StepSTLTools
Local Privacy Architecture

Privacy Policy & Data Security

Last Updated: September 2026 • Effective for all StepSTLTools users

✓

Our Primary Privacy Guarantee: Zero Cloud Uploads

When you select or drop a .STEP or .STP file into StepSTLTools, the file is read directly into your web browser's local memory sandbox via Web Workers and WebAssembly. Your CAD file is never uploaded to any remote server or third-party cloud storage.

1. Technical CAD Processing Architecture

StepSTLTools utilizes an in-browser compilation of OpenCASCADE Technology (OCCT) running inside a dedicated Web Worker via WebAssembly (WASM). All boundary representation (B-Rep) topological traversal, curve discretization, deflection matrix tessellation, and STL/OBJ byte-array encoding execute entirely on your device's CPU and RAM.

2. Zero Geometric Telemetry

We do not record, transmit, or analyze your model's vertices, triangle faces, dimensions, solid names, or proprietary metadata. Telemetry instrumentation in StepSTLTools does not capture CAD file contents, geometry, or file names.

3. Local Browser Storage

StepSTLTools utilizes your browser's localStorage solely to remember your chosen appearance theme (light or dark mode). No CAD data, file tokens, or session artifacts are written to persistent cookies or tracking databases.

4. Bug Reports & Email Communications

If you use our Contact or Bug Report link, your email client will open directly. We ask that users never transmit proprietary or confidential CAD geometry in bug reports. Please provide general descriptions of software behaviors, browser versions, and error messages only.

5. Contact Regarding Privacy
