Ownership of CAD Models & Generated Meshes
You retain complete, exclusive, and unencumbered ownership of all STEP/STP files you process through StepSTLTools and all STL/OBJ mesh files generated. Because all tessellation occurs locally within your browser sandbox, StepSTLTools acquires zero license, title, or interest in your engineering designs.
1. Service Description
StepSTLTools provides browser-local CAD utilities for converting ISO 10303 STEP (.step / .stp) models into triangulated facet formats (STL, OBJ) and inspecting mesh health. Services are provided free of charge on an "as-is" basis.
2. Engineering & Manufacturing Disclaimer
Tessellation converts exact mathematical Boundary Representation (B-Rep) surfaces (such as NURBS and analytic cylinders) into discrete triangular approximations governed by linear and angular deflection tolerances. While StepSTLTools provides precision deflection controls and automated manifold watertightness audits, users remain solely responsible for validating critical dimensions, clearances, and structural integrity in their slicer or CAM software prior to 3D printing, injection molding, or CNC fabrication.
3. Mobile Device Limitations
Large assemblies and complex STEP files with high face counts require substantial CPU memory. While StepSTLTools supports mobile browsing and basic models, desktop workstations with modern multi-core processors and hardware-accelerated WebGL are recommended for production engineering models larger than 50 MB.
